The world’s largest cryptocurrency edged up 0.2% to $80,833.90 after briefly touching $82,000 during weekend trading.

Investors remained attentive to escalating friction involving Iran while Washington moved closer to shaping long-awaited crypto legislation.

The proposed Clarity Act gained momentum ahead of a Senate Banking Committee hearing scheduled for May 14. The legislation aims to establish a broader regulatory structure for cryptocurrencies and stablecoins in the United States, potentially giving Bitcoin and related assets stronger institutional credibility.

Altcoins Edge Higher Despite Lingering Caution

Elsewhere, Ether climbed 0.4% to $2,337.56, while XRP advanced 2.8%. Solana, Cardano, and BNB also posted moderate gains as Bitcoin remained the market’s central focus.
