Ukraine has imposed new sanctions targeting foreign companies accused of supplying critical components used in Russian missiles and drones, as Kyiv intensifies efforts to disrupt Moscow’s military supply chains amid escalating attacks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced the measures on Sunday, stating that Russia’s weapons production relies heavily on imported components obtained through sanctions evasion networks. The new restrictions aim to block access to key suppliers and increase pressure on entities facilitating the flow of technology into Russia’s defense sector.

According to official decrees released by the Ukrainian presidency, the sanctions list includes several companies based in China, as well as firms linked to countries from the former Soviet Union, the United Arab Emirates, and Panama.

Zelenskiy emphasized that Russia would struggle to manufacture advanced weapons systems without access to foreign-made parts. The latest measures target component manufacturers, intermediaries, and companies involved in producing drones and missile systems used in strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure.

The Ukrainian leader also confirmed additional sanctions against elements of Russia’s financial sector and organizations connected to cryptocurrency mining and digital asset activities believed to support the war effort.

Escalating attacks on energy and logistics infrastructure

The announcement comes as Russia significantly increases the scale of aerial attacks on Ukraine. Officials reported that more than 2,000 attack drones, 1,200 guided aerial bombs, and over 100 missiles were launched at Ukrainian cities and villages within a single week.

Recent strikes have focused heavily on energy facilities and logistics networks, causing widespread disruption. Power stations and substations have been repeatedly targeted, leaving some regions without electricity and heating, while blackouts in the capital Kyiv reportedly lasted up to 20 hours.

Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict, the escalation in attacks highlights continuing tensions and underscores Ukraine’s push to weaken Russia’s military capabilities through economic and technological restrictions.
