On May 9, 2026, Bitcoin surged beyond $80,000 during Saturday trading, extending a rally fueled by institutional demand, ETF inflows, and expectations for clearer U.S. crypto regulation.

Bitcoin Roars Past $80K in Historic Institutional Rush

Bitcoin climbed to $80,227.30, up 0.43% by 04:00 ET, as heavyweight financial firms deepened their exposure to digital assets. “Scarcity is the new gold rush,” analysts said, reflecting growing confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term role inside global portfolios.

A major catalyst arrived after BNY Mellon announced regulated Bitcoin and Ethereum custody services in Abu Dhabi on May 7. Meanwhile, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust continued attracting powerful inflows, tightening liquid supply across the market.

Regulation and ETF Flows Drive Crypto Momentum

The upcoming CLARITY Act session on May 14 has intensified optimism surrounding a clearer framework for digital tokens. Tom Lee recently projected a potential $250,000 Bitcoin bull case if institutional accumulation accelerates further.

Ether rose 1.40% to $2,315.67, while Solana advanced 6.18%.
