AMD Surges Past 511 USD on Massive Data Center Growth and Helios AI Rack Ramp-Up

September 8, 2026 – Shares of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) surged roughly 7% during Tuesday trading, blasting past the 511 USD mark.
Institutional capital aggressively poured into the semiconductor giant following a series of massive infrastructure announcements and AI hardware deployments.
While the broader market digests macroeconomic volatility, Wall Street is rapidly repositioning AMD as a credible number-two competitor in the global AI accelerator market, heavily challenging its mega-cap tech rivals.
The Helios Ramp-Up and 629 USD Targets
The primary fundamental driver behind today's aggressive institutional buying is the faster-than-expected ramp-up of AMD's Helios AI rack system.
According to analysts at 24/7 Wall St, Anthropic has committed to 2 gigawatts of MI450 GPUs, driving massive forward revenue visibility.
This hardware commitment coincides with reports that AMD has pledged up to 5 billion USD to Anthropic, whose initial public offering prospectus is reportedly days away.
In response to this accelerated timeline and additional deals with OpenAI and Meta, 24/7 Wall St assigned a 629.60 USD price target to the equity.
For asset managers, this highlights a substantial 31% upside from recent baseline levels, cementing AMD's premium valuation.
Data Center Dominance and Threadripper Launch
Beyond future projections, AMD's core financial metrics validate the massive valuation multiple expansion.
The company recently reported a staggering 107% year-over-year jump in data center revenue, reaching 6.7 billion USD for the second quarter.
This segment now accounts for roughly 58% of the company's total sales, proving that AMD has successfully transitioned from a PC chip designer into an AI infrastructure powerhouse.
Adding fuel to the rally, the company introduced the "Threadripper Halo Station" AI workstation. This new hardware places more of AMD's EPYC and Instinct roadmap directly in front of governments, enterprise developers, and massive sovereign infrastructure projects.
Strategic Partnerships and Forward Outlook
Institutional momentum is further supported by a wave of new corporate agreements, including a multi-gigawatt infrastructure deal with Core Scientific and an expanded relationship with Microsoft.
Despite trading at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 30.6, analysts emphasize that AMD's 50.3% gross margin provides excellent profitability leverage.
From a technical perspective, the stock has broken heavily out of its recent consolidation zone, actively ignoring bearish concerns over potential chip export restrictions to China.
As long as the data center segment continues to double its revenue year-over-year toward 2027, top-tier research platforms estimate long-term fair values well above the 600 USD threshold.
